The remake ‘Rajahs’ are back in action with the 5th consecutive remake. Just as it happened before in all their 4 films, they have blatantly reproduced the same stuffs from ‘Kick’. The original version directed by Surendar Reddy featured Ravi Teja and Ileana in lead roles. Now, with ‘Thillalangadi’ nothing seems to be changed as even the costumes have been replicated over and again in every frame.

Set in backdrops of Malaysia, the film opens with parents of Nisha (Thamannah) fixing marriage with Krishna Kumar (Shaam), who has traveled all the way to foreign country for a mission of catching a thief. Just as both of them start shooting a breeze; Nisha narrates the bitter experiences with her ex-boyfriend Krishna (Ravi). Nothing worries Krishna in his life as he wants ‘Kick’ in each and everything he does. As Krishna keeps changing his jobs, it literally irritates Nisha gradually leading to break up. When both Nisha and Krishna cop agree to get married, it is uncovered that both Nisha’s ex-boyfriend and the thief Krishna is looking for are the same. Then begins the game of cat and mouse between the cop and thief with a touching reason behind his robbery being exposed…

Jeyam Raja has done his best of completely reproducing every quotient of original version. Jeyam Ravi keeps imitating Ravi Teja over the dialogue deliveries while Thamannah assumes herself to be Ileana herself. The way she bends her hips and buttocks has been gawkily captured by the cameraman. Raja doesn’t even know the things that have to be deleted, modified while remaking a film. At least, he could’ve read the reviews of Telugu ‘Kick’ and corrected himself. Its almost like a famous quotation ‘Ee Adichan Copy’.

Thamannah has to create her own style as she imitates each and everyone in the remake versions. When it was Kareena Kapoor in ‘Kanden Kadhalai’, she completely behaves like Ileana over here. Shaam is the only convincing part in this remake as he comes up with a rocking performance. Santhanam is wasted and the way he utters ‘Aah’ just as Ali in ‘Kick’ is too bad. Vadivelu throws a laugh riot with his body language and dialogues. In spite of his characterization being imitated from Brahmanandam, Vadivelu sways to his best. Prabhu as Ravi’s father is good while Radha Ravi is okay.

Yuvan Shankar Raja’s musical score is good at parts as ‘Sol Pecchu Ketkaadha’ is a nice number and has been splendidly shot. Cinematography and editing don’t get proper prominence. The first half of the film moves with fun and jolliness with the main story behind pushed into the second hour. And again, the second half is too lengthy as it makes you bored. Somehow, a pleasing flashback and adventurous climax that reminds off Surya’s ‘Ayan’ is honky-dory of its kind.

If Jeyam Raja has the intention of making money with such remakes, it’s well and good. But if he has any plans about being a creative person, he has to try something more innovative.

Bottom - Line: Dubbed version of KICK

Verdict: Raja’s ‘Thillalangadi’

Sona’s endeavoring attempt with ‘Kanimozhi’

Actress Sona made her entry into Tamil film industry as a glamorous actress, who later embarked a new journey as producer. The actress has now decided to make some resolutions and the first thing is about reducing her glamorous role. ‘I will no more be a glam doll in any films, except it has a big banner or production value’ says Sona, who is playing a cameo role in Jeeva starrer ‘Ko’.

The actress has produced the film ‘Kanimozhi’ that has been completed within a span of 46 days. The film has Jai in lead role with Vasanth of ‘Nadodigal’ fame donning the lead character. Newcomer Shashan Padamsee stars opposite them in female lead character and Satish Chakravarthy has scored music.

Kalainyar Karunanidhi will be releasing the audio this evening with Ilayathalapathy Vijay receiving the first copy.

Akshay Kumar frustrated with Trisha

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar had no idea about opting Trisha as his pair in ‘Khatta Meeta’. But it was all due to his director Priyadarshan that he accepted to sign her for the female lead role. However, the actress has been so overconfident that the Bollywood actors will let her go as it happens in Kollywood. Akshay Kumar has expressed his anxiety over Trisha’s irresponsibility. ‘She is just a newcomer and yet remains so careless without joining the promotional campaign for this film’ says Akshay Kumar.

Khatta Meeta is a soft romantic comedy with Akshay Kumar and Trisha playing the lead roles. The film is hitting screens tomorrow with more prints. Since, Akshay Kumar’s previous films were terrible flops; the actor is desperately in need of a hit and wanted Trisha to be so active for these promotional activities.

Akshay who had signed Trisha for another 2 films is rethinking about casting her in his other films.

Radha Mohan doesn’t care about ‘Kandahar’

Very often most of the filmmakers watch the same DVD and try remaking it with their own style. It has happened with the special incidents as well where our directors are inspired to adapt them on screens. Say for instance, the horrific incident of 9/11 has become the most common theme of Bollywood as most of the movies are centered on the same concept.

In all likelihood, here comes an inspiration from ‘Kandahar Flight Hijack’ for both directors – Radha Mohan and Major Ravi. Both of them have been avidly making their own films based on the same concept.

Major Ravi’s multilingual film ‘Kandahar’ features Mohanlal in lead role along with Ganesh Venkataram and Bollywood actor Neil Nithin Mukesh in lead role and Superstar Amitabh Bachchan plays an important role. On the pars, Radha Mohan’s ‘Payanam’ will be made in Telugu titled as ‘Gangam’ with Nagarjuna in lead role. The Tamil version is titled as ‘Payanam’ and even Prakash Raj takes on an important character.

Gowtham Menon acquires remake rights of ‘Kalavani’

What’s really wondering with this film is that it cannot get remade anywhere and Gowtham has irrelevantly gestured with such an act. It has been officially confirmed that Gowtham Menon has acquired the remake rights of recent release ‘Kalavani’ that has been doing well at box office. Gowtham Menon has co-produced various films through his banner of Photon Factory including is magnum opus Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu.

The filmmaker has now independently produced his very own directorial ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’ and his assistant filmmaker’s ‘Veppam’.

Since, the film ‘Kalavani’ has done a remarkable business at box office; Gowtham Menon has bought all India remake rights of this film.

Silambarasan is angry with Lingusamy

Ever since Silambarasan got it done with ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’, the actor has been carrying through everything with confusions. Lots of projects took off, which was dropped within short period. Apparently, Lingusamy isn’t an exception as the filmmaker promised about joining hands with him for an action thriller. Nonetheless, the media reports had cooked up more stories about Lingusamy for the statements and Silambarasan is now striking back with abrupt responses.

In his statement, the actor has mentioned that Lingusamy is such an amateurish personality, who doesn’t even the proper standard of approaching his artists. ‘He was supposed to keep me posted with his updates and never reverted on anything. Such a thing is something terribly unprofessional’ adds Silambarasan.

Raghava Lawrence joins Anushka again

Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence has been enjoying his privilege of being an excellent director. He has directed only few films and has made it bigger in both Tamil and Telugu film industry. His directorial ‘Muni’ was acclaimed as a commendable family entertainer with himself playing the lead character. Off the late, Raghava Lawrence got involved with acting offers that drenched him in absolute errors. Now after his recent film ‘Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam’ not doing well at box office, the actor is making his comeback as a director. After ‘Mass’, he will be making a Telugu movie yet to be titled and heroine of the film is none other than his very own favorite Anushka Shetty with Prabhas donning the lead character.

Shanthi is a film produced by A One Entertainment. The wholesome entertainer is being directed by Murali Viswa. After a lot of persuasion she has kissed the hero. But now someone in the crew has uploaded this clipping in the Youtube.

The director and whole unit is shocked over this. But the surprising thing is that some people while writing their comments in the Youtube have enquired when this film is releasing.

Karunaas - My Dear Brother Annayya

Karunaas has been holding special mention for sharing good rapport with his co-stars, especially the newcomers. Master Shankar has more reasons to call him his brother not only in the film ‘Ambasamudarm Ambani’, but also in real life as well. It’s all because the actor has encouraged him to come up with best performance.

Master Shankar came to Chennai joining the office of Bhagyaraj as an assistant and with his recommendation made his debut in Ajith Kumar’s ‘Ji’. Bhagyaraj personally recommended Lingusamy to offer him some role. Following this film, he acted in various films - ‘Vallavan’, ‘Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan’, ‘Kuselan’ and in around 24 films. The Ambasamudaram Ambani is a special film for Master Shankar as he has completed 25 films with this one.

At this special moment, Master Shankar thanks his mentor Bhagyaraj for reviving his life and Karunaas, who offered him a meaty role in his recent release. Director Ramnath came across Master Shankar while writing comedy sequences for Arun Vijay starrer ‘Veda’ and roped him in for this film.

Master Shankar is busy now shooting for various films including Virundhali, Chandrababu and Anandha Thollai. Kollywood Today wishes him the very best to come up with yet more challenging roles and establish himself as a finest actor.
